Supplies:
- Uncooked white rice
- Food dye (red, white, yellow and blue)
- Rubbing alcohol or vinegar
- Plastic bag
- Wax paper
- Measuring utensils (cup and tablespoon)
- Mini LED light
- Candle holder
Directions:
Pour 1 cup of rice into a plastic bag. A bigger bag can make sure the liquids reach every grain of rice.
Next, add 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol. Vinegar can work as well.
Then add a few drops of food dye. You can add more depending on how strong you want your colors to be.
Zip up the bag and mix it up. Your Scout would love to help you out here. Have them shake the rice around until it’s all colored.
Pour the rice on wax paper to dry. Make sure it’s spread out. It should only take an hour or two to dry. You can also place it outside under the sun to speed up the process. Repeat for your other colors.
After the rice is dry, arrange it in a small, clear candle holder. Top it all off with your candle.
