Adventure of a Lifetime: 2017 National Jamboree

They came from all 50 states and from 59 countries. They left with memories they’ll be talking about for decades to come and a greater appreciation for Scouting’s reach. The 2017 National Jamboree welcomed 40,000 Scouts, adult volunteers and staffers to Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia.

During the course of 10 action-packed days, Scouts, Venturers and Explorers met new people, experienced world-class high-adventure activities and performed more than 100,000 hours of community service.

On Saturday, Monday and Thursday evenings, the AT&T Summit Stadium filled with 40,000 Scouts and Scouters who were ready to rock. They were treated to performances by X Ambassadors, country singer Jessie Chris and the Plain White T’s. The closing show’s fireworks and laser display ended the Jamboree with a bang.

In 2019, SBR will welcome 50,000 Scouts and Scouters from more than 160 countries.

  1. Very disappointed that there was no mention in the Scouting Magazine article of our President visiting the National Jamboree. While climbing, swimming, patch trading, shooting, and more were highlights for Scouts from our Troop…the pinnacle was the visit by President Trump. Most have to go to a location to see him…however, my Scouts understand the importance of our President coming to see them.
