Supplies:
- Tissue paper (red, orange, yellow colors)
- Plate or slice of wood (for the base)
- Small twigs
- Scissors (optional)
- Tape
- Pebbles
- Pinecones
- Mini LED light
- Scouting magazine paper figure
Directions:
First, tear up your tissue paper. Tearing instead of cutting gives you some nice rough edges for your flames.
Next, you’re going to roll each piece of paper and twist the ends. This will make it easier to stand your flames up. Each piece should be a few inches tall. You can experiment with different heights to get a more natural look.
Tape each piece to your fire pit. You can use a plate or a slice of wood as your fire pit. It helps to have a spot for your LED light picked out and to work around it. Continue taping each piece in place; you can use pebbles to help stabilize your flames.
You can find pebbles and small twigs to decorate your campfire at your local craft store or you can recruit your Scouts to gather some from your yard.
Download this fun Scout figurine template that you can print out. Your Scout will love decorating it and placing themselves by the fire.
