“I’ll have the lobster.” These words take on new meaning at the Cape Cod Maritime Adventure Treks, where Scouts spend half a day as the crew of a lobster boat, pulling in fresh catches from the Atlantic Ocean.
All that hard work comes with a tasty reward: a big lobster boil at the end of the trek. Crews of six to 11 Scouts age 13 or older (and their adult leaders) spend five days on land and at sea near the “bicep” of the Cape Cod arm.
They experience the salty geography, nature, and flavor of Cape Cod by participating in these activities:
Biking along woodland trails that pass working cranberry bogs and cut through scenic Cape Cod villages—with the shores of the Atlantic Ocean as a constant companion.
Boating on a classic coastal schooner, a vintage Coast Guard surf rescue boat, or kayaks that make it easy to slip into tidal ponds and coves.
Whale watching, island hopping, and camping in an area off-limits to regular visitors.
