Our Wits End

Illustrations by Bill Basso

Scouting's readers provide some belly laughs with their winning entries in the magazine's "Wise and Witty" cartoon caption contest.

For Scouting magazine's "Wise and Witty" cartoon caption contest, we asked registered BSA members to submit captions for any of four Scout-themed cartoons by illustrator Bill Basso, a longtime contributor to Scouting.

From hundreds of submissions, sent both through the mail and via Scouting magazine's Web site (www.scoutingmagazine.org), the editors picked the 12 captions shown here.

The writers of the top three entries for each cartoon will receive a Leatherman Juice S2 multitool plus prizes as follows: 1st place—$100 BSA Supply Division certificate; 2nd place—$75 gift certificate; 3rd place—$50 certificate.

For information about Scouting magazine's next reader contest, our biennial photography competition, see the announcement and details in the May-June 2003 issue.
